Owners Max & Pook Chutinthranond are both from Bangkok—a melting pot of Southeast Asia—and their lineages reflect that identity. In addition to having ancestors from Thailand, they can trace roots back to: Malaysia’s Peranakan population of Malacca and Penang; Laos; and Surat, India. Many of the dishes are inspired by favorites from their youth, for example the King Roll is based on a spring roll cart near Max’s school bus stop.
Rather than making exclusively authentic Thai food, the cuisine at the Lemon Grass is a journey through salty, sweet, spicy, and sour flavors. Max & Pook use the best available ingredients and their shared heritage to create the perfect balance of flavors in every dish.
